Her parents are Harvey Welker who is Native American as well as Julie Welker who is African-American. The father of the family is an engineer while her mother works as an agent. Walker went to her school at the Germantown Friends School of Philadelphia's Germantown in 1994, and was awarded the diploma in 1994. In 1998, she graduated with an undergraduate degree from Harvard College. Welker is since the age of 20 with John Hughes who is a prominent marketing director for Merck Philadelphia.
