Anna Paquin
Anna Paquin (born Winnipeg, was raised in Wellington) is the name of a Canadian actress. Paquin, born in Winnipeg and was raised by Wellington Paquin's mother, made her acting debut in the role of Flora McGrath. For this role she received the Academy Award of Best Supporting Actress for the romantic comedy The Piano at the young age of 11. She is the second youngest winner in Oscar History. Following a prompt for auditions, she was able to audition when she was nine, and with little prior experience acting when she was selected for the role of Flora McGrath role. Flora is the child of a Scottish pianist, who was deaf. They relocated to New Zealand during the middle of the 19th century in order to get married. At the age of a teen her family left Canada and eventually to United States. Paquin played the lead role in Fly Away Home in 1996 and had a minor part in the film as Jane Eyre when she was only a child. Paquin played Frankie Addams in a 1997 TV movie adaptation of Carson McCullers' novel The Member of the Wedding and had a minor role as the queen of Spain in Steven Spielberg's Amistad (1997). She portrayed teenagers on Hurlyburly (1998), She's All That (2000), A Walk on the Moon (2000). She also portrayed the teen groupie Polexia Aphrodisa in Almost Famous (2000).
